Zeta Tau Sigma HerStory

Zeta Tau Sigma was chartered on March 26, 1983. The chartering ceremony was held at the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC in the Gold Room. Twenty-five sorors and five honorary members were inducted. It was the largest chapter ever to be chartered in the Northeast Region. The chartering of the chapter was the idea of Soror Lillie J. Van Landingham, who was elected Charter Basileus. Those participating in the induction ceremony were: Grand Basileus Alice Swain, International First Grand Anti-Basileus Rejesta V. Perry, Northeast Region Syntaktes Mynora J. Bryant, and Executive Secretary Bonita Herring. This was an elegant and heartwarming occasion.

Members of Zeta Tau Sigma have held offices at the national and regional levels, including positions such as Grand Epistoleus (Lillie Van Landingham), Legal Advisor (Karla Smith), Northeast Regional Representative - National Education Fund (Jimmie Jackson), Regional Epistoleus (Marian DeBerry), Election Chair (Janice Melvin - now Trent), Interim Area One Coordinator (Felcia Mattox). Chapter members have also served as chairs and members of many national and regional committees.
